| For years before joining Kingma Agency as a
strategic partner, Tom
Atkins described himself as a "technical creative", and no
wonder.
Atkins was one of the founding four of The Whitlock Group's broadcast
division, and later was a partner at TGS, Inc, A broadcast systems
integrator. During those fifteen years, he was part of the technical team
that designed some of the groundbreaking DTV and HDTV systems across the
country.
At the same time, Atkins developed marketing campaigns for both
companies, with strong results. Whitlock's Broadcast division went from a
startup to over $30M/year sales. And at TGS as VP of sales and marketing,
TGS grew at a rate of over 150%/year his first five years there. In 2004,
he began Summit Manor Marketing, focused on technology firms, he and
Summit Manor work closely with The Kingma Agency on a variety of
projects.
Atkins is a writer who has written for publications ranging from
Broadcast Engineering, to Artist's Sketchbook, to Sales and Marketing
magazine, as well as poetry, fiction and drama. His photographs have been
used in magazines, as book covers, as well as many marketing campaigns. He
is a former music Director for Sing Out Roanoke Valley, a pen and ink
artist and part time dramatist. He is a member and deacon at
Troutville Baptist church and full partner at Kingma.
